Please note that anabolic steroids are illegal in France and can be potentially dangerous for health, this article is purely informative.

The culture of appearance is ubiquitous in our society, more and more men and women use anabolic steroids in order to acquire a perfect body. Most of the time, taking anabolic products have a lot of side effects including hair loss. Can this effect be avoided? What are the worst products for hair?

Do steroids cause baldness?

This question can not be answered in a definite way. Indeed many factors – especially genetic – come into play to determine if you will lose your hair while taking anabolic steroids.

It is now proven that androgenetic alopecia is caused mainly by a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone is obtained from testosterone, transformed by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. How to reduce the levels of DHT when taking steroids? There is a drug that can reduce testosterone to DHT when taking steroids. This is Finasteride, it is a treatment used against hair loss.

Studies have shown that it can reduce the level of DHT by 70%. It should be noted that 5-alpha reductase enzyme inhibitors -responsible for processing testosterone to DHT- may worsen when combined with certain anabolic steroid products like deca-durabolin. Another treatment named RU58841 reduces the effects DHT, moreover, the product is applied locally.

The worst steroids regarding hair loss

The following anabolic products are considered to be the worst in the process of hair loss.

Winstrol is probably the worst steroid product for hair loss. Like Dianabol and Trenbolone, a finasteride-based treatment will not make any difference. It is so bad for the hair that even subjects who are not necessarily predisposed to androgenetic alopecia lose their hair.

Trenbolone is a derivative of DHT, so it causes a big hair loss in people predisposed to androgenetic alopecia. Inhibitors of 5-alpha reductase will probably not stop hair loss caused by trenbolone.

The Anadrol

Anadrol is a product famous for causing hair loss, because it is very quickly metabolized into estrogen and DHT.

Dianabol has an anabolic / androgenic ratio in the range of 90-210: 40-70. Which means that it is more androgenic than anabolic, so it is harmful for the hair.

Like any treatment, taking steroids affects each individual differently. A steroid causing hair loss in one person may not affect another. The steroids below are considered to be the least harmful to the hair.

Deca durabolin is safe for the hair. Instead of converting it to DHT, 5-alpha reductase converts it to dehydrin. It is for this reason that you should not follow a Finasteride-based treatment, it will cause a bigger loss of hair than if you do not take anything. In addition, coupled with Deca Durobolin, it is often advisable to take a product based on testosterone, which will have a negative effect on your hair.

Turinabol has an androgenic ratio of 0, which means that it will not cause you in theory of hair loss.

However, if taken in high doses, it can potentially have negative effects on the hair. The Turinabol however remains the product causing the least hair loss.

Anavar is one of the least androgenic steroids, in fact it has an anabolic / androgenic ration of 322-640: 24. However, if taken in doses greater than 100mg, it can cause hair loss.
